Latest News

Jan 2010
A new set of (2009)photos has been added to the Flickr album.
A proposal for visiting Aden in 2011 has been added to the Members' Index.

Dec 2009
OK Members Forum amended so that submission entry form appears within the forum. This should make it more convenient to refer to a previous entry whilst composing a new one.
A new forum page added for members to discuss memories of their teachers. Also using form in forum arrangement.
An indication of how many members have responded to the latest batch of newsletters is now available.

All these are reserved for use of members only.

Splitting this 'Latest News' section into clearer sections is of course available to all users.

Late Nov 2009

Following facilities are already 'live' and have been advised in a members' newsletter.

Extended Index entries:-
The 'old' way of reaching members index has been renamed to Members Index (Gateway) and a new entry MembIndx(NoHlp) added below it for people who won't be surprised by the login box
A Help(FAQ) page has been added to public index
A Forum Entry Page has been added to Members' Index
(as has a corresponding Forum reading page of course)

I've also copied all the content of the 'We Loved Aden' feature from the BT website into a new slot here. Currently accessible only by members but if the respective authors all agree I'll move it to a public page.
If you want to read newsletters on-line, you'll now open the page for them at a point that displays the links to the last few sent rather than to the very start - although you can of course still scroll up to find older ones.

Mid Nov 2009

Procedure for reaching members index has been clarified by extending the comments on the gateway page. Also additional help pages provided for reference
Password reminders by email now available
Newsletter(s !!) sent out explaining this
NL39 onwards incorporated a 'Reply Link'
By end of Nov, 130 OKs had confirmed receipt of automated emails. That's still less than half - really not sure if other half are 'lost' or just slow to read emails. Future newsletters will continue the reminder process !

Early Nov 2009

Apologies to all those people who must have thought that their webmaster had given up on this project.

The website that was launched in Feb 2008 was built from a template and adding new facilities to that (rather complicated) template was somewhat harder than I ever imagined it would be.

After 18 months of thinking about it,   we now have a new basic skeleton which is actually much simpler although paradoxically it should now be easier to implement any more advanced features

With the new framework in place, it should be rather more straightforward to port across the additional material from the old site and to add new features when required.

If you have any comments to make about the new look or suggestions for additional features, please contact webmaster at the email address below.

One of the new features will be a web based email to all members facility.   This alas has a known bug in that many ISPs will detect that such emails have been automatically rejected so will leap to the (erroneous !) conclusion that they must be 'spam'.   To ensure that future copies of newsletters etc actually reach you,   please try and visit your ISP's webmail site and identify the webmaster address shown above as 'safe'.
